National Lottery Cash Funds New Community Website

A National Lottery grant has funded the launch of a new website and newsletter to publicise community projects organised by Wareham and District Development Trust.

Under the Lottery's Awards for All programme, the group has received a grant of £4,150.

Some £900 of that total has funded the development of a website and newsletter titled The Beacon, with the remainder being spent on office equipment, insurance fees and trustee training.

The trust was set up in April 2002 as a 'can do' community group and it is based at the Wareham Online office at Electric House in Wareham.

Its first major scheme was helping to set up Wareham Skatepark as a joint public/private partnership scheme.

Trust Chairman Kevin Randall said:

"I am delighted to announce this fantastic web site has now been launched.  The web site will enable us to keep everybody informed with the latest projects, developments, news etc at the touch of a button."

The web site has links to other organisations such as Purbeck District Council and Dorset Community Action (DCA) for fast cross-referencing and communicating.

The web address is: www.wddt.org.uk
