Village launches its rural charms into cyberspace

Internet users can now access information about Chorleywood in cyberspace, following the launch of the parish council web site this week.

The website consists of 19 pages of maps, contact numbers and information on the area. There are also several links, including one to The Watford Observer's web site.

It even has a green and brown colour scheme - the colours of Chorleywood.

Website designer Mr John Hale said: "I am very pleased with the end result.  It is our aim to have on it anything you could wish to know about Chorleywood."

Parish council chairman Margaret Jarrett added: "This shows the council is definitely in the 21st Century. We want to use the best technology possible to make information more easily available. We are all very grateful to John for putting together such an excellent site and to Yvonne Merritt, the Clerk to the Council, for supplying the relevant information."

The council's vice-chairman, Mr Malcolm Ellis, who has been a councillor for 39 years, said he was excited at the possibilities of the Internet. He added: "We are now at the cutting edge of modern technology. This site is bringing Chorleywood Parish Council into the 21st Century. It will be especially useful for people who are thinking of moving to the area."

The site was put together by Mr Hale at Floating Lily Designs.
